Prison Healer (2021, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company) 4 stars

Review of 'Prison Healer' on 'Goodreads'

Nice,
The whole concentration camp thing is pretty thick and highly triggering at times. And I am not sure if it was necessary to write like that.
On the other hand it was a lot of tell and no show at times, which was annoying, too.
But the story was pretty action packed. As much as it can be for a YA book
Still, I liked and I was excited to read.

The Coming Rapture (Paperback, 2018, CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform) 5 stars

Well, this has been the best fantasy series I have read in two years. And the reasons for that are so basic, I am shocked myself.

It's solid. Characters are solid, story is solid, even world is solid (the world building has its flaws, but it makes sense within that book)
It was fun to read.

When the evil people showed up, they stayed evil, the plot twist were executed well and characters stayed consistent.

Also the story is absolutely my cup of tea. Beside the angels x demons and reborn part, it's also pretty dark but has some humor in between. Really nice.

So when you are sick of modern day top notch low quality fantasy books, that are all mainstream and repetitive and boring, you do what a girl got to do and you go back to read old fantasy titles.
When I first joined goodreads "The Bone Doll's Twin" was one of the first books recommended to me. I started the beginning but could not really get into it and put it aside, that was like 8 years ago.I never could get it out of my head. The idea of the book triggered me so hard that I came back to it finally.

Pro:
Actual interesting question and things to think about
Cool magic
Nice old school aesthetic
Good horror
Loved the characters and the dynamics

Contra:
Sloooooooow
Not much happens at all, and at some point there is a huge break in the story
Ending of the first book is …

F*ck Marriage (Paperback, 2019, Independently published) 3 stars

Review of 'F*ck Marriage' on 'Goodreads'

I was really annoyed about the first part, because it felt repetitive. I liked the main chara, but still the built up was annoying. Then around 50% it got really really good. And then it dunked in the end. It was so messy, because there were parts that never got solved, and themes that got picked up but never put together, so the whole book felt like messy jigsaw puzzle with parts that do not fit each other. And that's very sad, because the atmosphere of Fishers books always works so deeply and it was in this one, too. But the end just snaps you out of it and you feel like you wasted all your emotions and it was a joke.

Ich denke, also bin ich. Grundtexte der Philosophie. (Paperback, German language, 2000, C.H.Beck) 5 stars

Brilliant idea to read this book. And I was finally smart enough to understand what I was reading. As a start to philosophy it makes a lot of sense, since you can read real basic excerpts by the prominent philosophers themselves. I was also very surprised that I really got more engaged with philosophers I never thought about or considered to be interesting.

In general though I am really happy to have finished my non-fiction book for this year. Yay to me.

Review of 'Le otto montagne' on 'Goodreads'

5 stars

You like mountains? You'll like this book. I have never related more to a story that describes what it's like to enjoy hiking, how being at mountains makes you feel whole and how you leave the world behind the moment you reach that high ground. The story is hardbreaking, the characters people you know and traits you hate about them, but wish you could be the same.
